MY PASSION PROJECT
Introducing my lifework and a new blog.
About two weeks ago, I asked myself that, if I were to die tomorrow, what would be the one thing I would regret not doing? The answer was easy, as it's been a dream of mine for the past 10 years:
I want to research my family history and create a documentary and maybe even write a book.
Preamble
Due to my current situation, dropping everything to pursue this isn't ideal. My main focus is still to find stable employment and a way to live, more or less. I've been doing as much as I can, and looking for work (and facing rejection constantly) is dejecting. And most of the time I just wanted to die.
So I needed to find something to live for.
I had been apprehensive of starting a Neocities site because it was daunting. I believed I couldn't do it. But I needed to do SOMETHING, and since I can't travel to Taiwan right now, I needed something that would preoccupy my time, kickstart this project, and make me happy: designing a website.
As mentioned in some previous posts, I got so sucked in that I stayed up until 3 AM and faced sleep deprivation because I was enjoying it so much. This is now a dedicated weekend project, which I'll stop working on when the sun sets as a way to maintain self-control.
Naming
I was hesitant to share this because I still haven't decided on the name yet. The original name of the site was my default username, but I changed it to "aworkinprogress" today, which was surprisingly available. I also created a blog (hosted here!) by the same name, which was also available.
Eventually I would like to purchase a domain once I decide on something fitting. But for now, this works, I guess.
Website
This is the home page, inspired by a compass.
A lot of the pages are still under construction but there's already some information up, namely the About page, which I think is the most finished.
The photo is of my grandmother with some relatives, I assume.
The design will continue to change as I figure things out. I see this as a living documentation where I collect all of my findings. That will live in the Project page, which I spent a lot of time working on today.
I love this picture of my grandmother so much.
A second blog
This blog already covers so many topics from my life, and I needed a place where any specific ideas, research, etc. pertaining to the project could live. Naturally, I decided to start another Bear Blog. So, moving forward, I won't write about this project here anymore (unless, I don't know, something BIG happens).
I won't create an RSS feed link until I decide on the domain name.
My favorite picture of my grandpa.
I was going to write in the new blog today but I should stop now as I am starving and can easily ignore my hunger to keep working. So that will be all for now.
I'm looking forward to diving deeper into this project. :)
