MONDAY CLEANING: LIVING ROOM + WALL SHELF

Weekly cleaning series.

I have a slight headache and am feeling tired. I slept around 6 hours, which isn't ideal for me. I'm drinking a cold coffee to hopefully wake me up. I don't have too many engagements this week, which is nice.

Weekly clean

We haven't cleaned the living room floor since before we left for the Netherlands and it's looking grim. So today, the focus will be cleaning the floor and dusting the surfaces.

Sometimes, I'll have a desire to do some sort of home improvement task during the week. But unless it's some mild decorating, I never get around to it. So I'm using the Monday momentum to include this. There's a wall shelf in the office that's been a catch-all for random items. I want to move it into the bedroom reading nook and use it as a zine shelf.

The main goal today is to unmount it and patch up the wall in the office. If I still have the energy, I'll then mount it to the bedroom wall. Let's see how far this gets.

Tasks before cleaning
  1. Plan week
  2. Tidy up desk
  3. Clean litter box

11:53–12:12

Dusted the surfaces then vacuumed the floors. I also vacuumed the couch because both Boba and I have been shedding this summer. Daniel swiffered. He still needs to clean the rug, and then I'll do another pass with the vacuum before mopping the floor as there are some stains.

No before pics because you can't really tell how dirty the floor is in the camera.

Tasks before cleaning
  1. Finance stuff
  2. Lunch

13:31–13:40

Did a 2nd pass with the vacuum and then mopped the floor.

Gonna do a drawing break because I'm feeling kinda bummed rn. (Whined about it in my NOTES)

Tasks before cleaning
  1. Drawing break
  2. Clean up notes page

14:47–14:59

This was so quick! I forgot how this was mounted. It's only held up by two screws in the middle. Dang! I'm definitely putting this up in the bedroom later today.

Tasks before cleaning
  1. Reply to emails
  2. Lie down break

15:49–16:56 DONE!

This was super easy to install! All my zines are in there. Hopefully this will get me to read them so I can eventually downsize my collection. They've just been collecting dust for YEARS.

Progress:

For those curious, this shelf was from Ikea's Ypperlig collection back in 2017, when they had their collaboration with Hay.

And of course, I immediately got to decorating:

I have two bat prints that need to be hung up, so tomorrow I'll see if I can find some frames at Søstrene Grene. I plan on writing a post about this space tomorrow, in addition to some home improvement ideas and things I've been doing since last week.

ʕ˘ω˘ʔ

I finished all my tasks for today! Daniel and I are going to take a walk into the city now. Decorating, cleaning, and organizing my apartment has made me so happy this past week.
