MONDAY CLEANING: GENERAL (AND TRIP PLANNING)
Weekly cleaning series.
I'm noticing that I'm starting my routine later and later each week. Oh well. As long as it's done, right? Who cares about when.
Today I'm doing something different. About a month ago, I booked flight tickets for Daniel and I to Amsterdam. I love planning trips, but I didn't make any time to do so. We're leaving next week! I'm the most structured and productive on Mondays, so rather than doing a deep-clean this week, I'm going to do general clean throughout the apartment and use the same structure but replace that with trip planning. Let's go!
Weekly clean
I'm starting off with cleaning to get that out of the way. No pictures this time, because it's throughout the whole apartment.

Daniel and I will tag-team throughout each room with dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, etc. We also need to clean Boba's litter box. I'm treating this as a "home blessing hour" (from the FlyLady technique) where we spend one hour cleaning/tidying up. Nothing deep, just enough to make a visual difference.
Tasks before cleaning
- Take meds
- Monthly reflection post
- Write down to-dos for the day
- Tidy up desk
- Brush teeth, etc.
- Change out of pjs

Managed to clean the bathroom, put away my files, and vacuum the area around my desk. That's it. I fear that if we attempt the whole apartment today then I won't get to planning at all. So I'm gonna call it here for cleaning, since I had planned to do another whole apartment clean next week anyway.
Today was supposed to be the "light" cleaning, but it still somehow took so long. How fast do people clean that they can finish the entire apartment in one hour?! Feels impossible.
Tasks before planning
- Eat lunch
Trip planning
I'm going to use the pomodoro timer to ensure that I stand up and move around every 25 minutes. I'll just get started now and see how much I get done in an hour. Will document the process, of course.

My locations/ideas table on Notion.
Added some suggestions from friends to my Notion table and simultaneously bookmarked them on Google Maps. I've also emailed my cousin for his address and want to look into if there's some sort of travel card/discount for tourists for the cheapest commutes.
Tasks before planning
- Short couch break
- Admin stuff
18:25—ONGOING
Some places in Den Haag.
Sort of have the first two days planned. i.e., planning the main activity for the day and bookmarking some restaurants nearby. I won't share the plans because a) it's still early stages and b) I will definitely write extensively about the trip later!
In terms of documenting my day, I think I'll stop here for now. I'm just glad I got the ball rolling, and now I'm really excited for the trip! Even booked a nail appointment, haha! Now I'm going to start dinner and probably continue to plan through the evening (and week). I can't plan everything today anyway, because I want to get my cousin and friend's opinions and know their availability.
Today didn't feel as productive, but I still got a bunch of things done. I need to remind myself that I can't be building and installing furniture every Monday to feel truly accomplished.
