PRETEND TYPEWRITER

GREAT THRIFT HAUL

Saturday thrifting adventure.

Thanks to my cleaning project and Ikea's PS 2026 launch (which I will write about), I have been on a home-improvement kick. But in order to buy new things, I'm pushing myself to sell or donate first. (Well, we already bought some stuff from Ikea yesterday.)

Today, we decided to hit up some secondhand shops that buy homeware. A new one called Altwarenhandel popped up in Lucerne and rather than sell, I ended up buying some things. But they were amazing things!

I'd been wanting a Mahjong set and was casually looking online. Anything vintage was going for over 100 bucks! So when I saw this for a whopping 10 CHF and inlaid with bamboo, I bought it without hesitation.

However, I had been wondering why it was a mere 10 CHF. So I opened it up (at home).

The spring tile is missing! I'm a little disappointed, but at least it's one tile. I'm sure it's still playable. I'll just exclude the seasonal set and use them as decoration. Still, I don't regret it because of the price, and tbh it's not like I'm going to be playing this every weekend.

I was going to put my vitamins in this, but a quick search told me I SHOULD NOT DO THIS. So I won't. It'll either serve as decoration or storage for something non-consumable.

My living room is cat-themed so when I saw this I just had to have it. There were actually two cats with slightly different faces, so I took the derpiest looking one. I'm going to use this as a decorative piece only. This was the most expensive of the 3 items at 24.50 CHF.

We later checked out two more stores because I'm on the lookout for a bathroom cabinet as well. We stopped by MOEBU Vintage and managed to get a buyer for my old-ass bike that's been on Ricardo/Tutti for months. Daniel also sold them his Teenaged Engineering x Ikea light for a mere 20 CHF. I've seen it online for at least 60-80 CHF, but he just wanted to get rid of it.

We went to Ikea yesterday and I want to write about their latest product launch as well as some items we bought and will buy. I'm trying not to guilt myself over this because it's stuff I've been wanting for a long time and it will improve our quality of life. We won't be in a deficit over the purchases, so I think that's ok.

I've been more mindful about my purchases over the years, but I have trouble letting go of things. Now that money is tight, I'm more motivated to part ways with pieces I've been saving for a rainy day.
