C.R.E.A.M.: CATS RULE EVERYTHING AROUND ME.
A series where I yap about my social media profiles. Part 2 of...?
A long time ago, I started an Instagram page for my dearly departed Spyder. I created it before Spyder and I made the big move from Hong Kong to Switzerland. I wanted Spyder to become a cat influencer, where we’d rake in deals with the local pet store. Of course that didn’t happen, thanks to my infrequent posts.

A section of the grid when Spyder was still relatively healthy.
Spyder died in 2020 and I visit the page about once a year and post about a fond memory. I intend to share as many photos as possible as long as I’m alive. I liken it to visiting the cemetery with a bouquet of flowers and spending some time reflecting upon your beloved. I keep Spyder’s urn in my living room so I always have him with me, and I celebrate his day of passing on Halloween, as he died on October 31st. I thoroughly enjoy my traditions.

His page is no longer an active part of my life (too painful), and in 2022 I adopted a street cat from Romania, at the behest of my sister, who thought I should welcome new life to help alleviate my grief. It worked. While I still mourn Spyder on occasion, having a cat who is the complete opposite of my Old Boy redirected my sadness. So, as with all of my interests, I created an Instagram for her.

Boba’s page isn’t very active either, but her foster mother thanks me every once in a while because she enjoys seeing her cute photos and playful videos.
I am sometimes plagued with the idea of being an influencer/content creator and become sad when an account doesn’t perform well. But it’s these small moments that make it worth it, knowing that someone out there is watching and enjoys what I’m sharing.
