WEEK 1

GOOD

What a week! I started 2026 with a bang. Usagi asked if Daniel and I would like to start an accountability buddy system with her. So now we have a group on Whatsapp where we hold each other accountable for getting out of bed, doing a specific task, and getting into bed before midnight. We also have to send proof pics because one could cheat the system through texting.

It's been working. I've gotten a lot done and am finally managing my time with the blog. Ever since I started on Bear, I stopped doing other hobbies. Yesterday, I finally uploaded my video to YouTube. I'd been editing that video since the end of November, and thought I would get that out before the end of the year. (It's not public yet because I want to add subtitles first.) Having an external accountability buddy is really helpful, because Daniel and I will either either enable bad habits or dismiss each other completely.

However! Daniel suggested we now gamify sleep. We bought a dry-erase blackboard yesterday, and now we have to put when we get into bed. The person who gets into bed earlier wins, and at the end of the month, we tally up the points. The loser will have to buy the winner milk tea.

I'm starting to accept that I'm a competitive person, as long as I feel safe around my competition. So I got into bed at 23:21 because I'm determined to win! And Daniel got in bed shortly after, which is wild because he usually clocks in around 2-3 AM. Another rule is, that you must get into bed with the intention of sleeping. So, if you get into bed at 21:00 but are on your laptop, that doesn't count.

Let's see how long this lasts. I've already thought of potential "punishments," because honestly I can see us stretching it out where we start getting into bed later and later. I know this because a few years ago we started playing Pokémon Sleep. The app is supposed to help you regulate your sleep schedule. If you sleep around your bedtime, you get extra goodies when you wake up, probably better Pokémon show up, etc.

It worked at first. However I started to cheat the system, where I'd get into bed and set that I'm sleeping, then go on Instagram for an hour. And then I stopped caring about sleeping around my bedtime. I still play the game, but it's just to collect Pokémon. So hopefully our new sleep competition will help.

Upcoming week:

From now on I'll be blogging every other day because I want to make time for vlogging/editing. For an unemployed person I feel so busy. How do people manage their hobbies with a full-time job? ʕ ㅇ ᴥ ㅇʔ
