JAN >> FEB
Monthly reflection and outlook.
January started off strong.
I felt super motivated because I was still in my honeymoon phase with Bear Blog (still am maybe, but it's dying down in a good way*) and writing every day just makes me so happy! And like I wrote previously, if I'm not writing I'm fiddling with customization, which also brings me joy.
* When something is novel I tend to obsess over it so everything falls by the wayside. So hopefully I'll be able to commit to other things again.
+
- Starting an accountability group chat with Usagi and Daniel. It was really helpful especially during the break from school.
- Meeting my friends in London. That was super fun and much needed!
- Choir rehearsal weekend. I had a really good time and I'm also happy that I'm meeting new people again.
- Socializing in general. Not only am I meeting people in real life, it's been really nice getting to know people within the Bear Blog community. I have pen pals now!
- Starting a sleep competition with Daniel. I've been getting into bed earlier because I want to win! (But these days I've just been so exhausted). So now he owes me boba.
- I wrote my first post in German! I only did this once, so I'm hoping to do this for the next 3 weeks at least because I should be pretty free on those Sundays.
-
- I stopped journaling in my iPad after my travels. It was an activity that helped me unwind before bed.
- We stopped cleaning the apartment. I used to keep my desk clean at least, but I stopped caring.
- I'm too obsessed with my blog. I haven't picked up a book in weeks or continued my knitting. It's not a big deal per se but I still want to pursue my other hobbies.
- I'm really behind on German homework. Since I'm already behind, I'll pick writing a blog post over doing homework. Not a habit I want to get used to!
Looking forward to...
- Valentine's Day karaoke-dance party in a refurbished chapel! (And hopefully meeting the chickens and cats this time?!)
- Putting together my yassified Swiss outfit for my choir performance. Some people lent me some pieces but now I'm inspired to make my own.
- Chinese New Year parties with friends! Lunar New Year is from February 17 to March 3 this year. I'm hosting two parties now, on the 21st and 1st (March).
- Choir rehearsal on the 28th. I already plan on leaving an hour earlier so I can mentally prepare for the party on Sunday. We're doing a late lunch this time (I usually do dinner parties) so people can still have a Sunday evening.
Goals
- GET A JOB! I've been looking, but I don't think I've been going as hard as I could. My unemployment benefits end in April so I really need to turn the dial up to 11. I also need a Plan B, whether that's freelancing or further education. I will still focus on Plan A, but I'd like to have a solid Plan B by the end of the month.
- Study for B2 exam. I have a good 3.5 weeks to study for my test. I'm taking the SDS test, which is only recognized in Switzerland and covers A1-B2, but it's supposed to be "easier" and it's faster to receive your results. If I don't pass, I'll sign up for TELC.
Conclusion
January felt well-paced. I did a lot of stuff and the last two weeks were quite hectic, but because it was such a positive month for me, I didn't feel like the days just flew by (usually that's a negative feeling). I feel motivated again because it's a new month and I have all this renewed energy. Let's see how long this keeps up.
Wishing everyone a positive start to February. If your January sucked, I'm sending you energy to take on the new month! LFG.
